People, namely teachers, always ask me "What's the best part about your job?" I have a hard time narrowing this down to just one answer -- mostly, because I love my job. Yes, I miss aspects of being a classroom teacher (namely the relationships you build with your students), but there are definite perks to this new venture that I've taken over the course of the past 13 months.
Namely, travel.
I love to travel. And not just to exotic locations, although that's just the icing on the cake! I love the bustle of airports, terminals, getting to explore different locations both big and small. Ever seen the movie "Up in the Air"? That's me (minus the whole having an affair thing...although it was George Clooney...) I've got my airport security routine down pat, know exactly how much time I can show up at an airport, get behind a slow never-flown-before-and-missed-the-whole-I-can't-travel-with-liquids-memo person, get searched at security and still make it to my plane long before they page me. I have a slight obsession with points cards and am proud to be frequent/gold member/valued client at numerous airlines and hotel chains across the country.
Mostly though, I just like to get to see and experience new situations and places, meet with new people and sometimes see familiar places through a new lens. And so, since I'm very much aware that my recent travel excursions have slowed my rate of blog posts, I give you a brief photo essay of the last 7 days -- all taken via my iPhone.
Enjoy!

Saskatoon airport last week, at the very beginning of the freak October snowstorm that would close schools, highways and bus routes.

The storm grows stronger and deposits snow on Saskatoon roadways.

Ugh. Remember, less than 2 weeks prior, I was chilling on the beautiful beaches of Maui.

My poor little rental car after 45 minutes being parked outside. Despite it's lack of 4x4 or winter tires, it actually got me where I needed to go!

Aaahhh...that's better! My view as I ate dinner in Victoria a few days later.

Mmmm...delicious food at the Flying Otter Grill in Victoria.

Gorgeous venue for a full day of SMART Board workshops. A HUGE thank you to our Sharp's Audio Visual rentals department that provides all AV requirements to the entire Victoria Conference Centre -- my session included. :)

Beautiful landscaping touches at the VCC!

Rather than flying between Victoria and Vancouver, I opted to take the ferry tonight. Haven't done that since I was 14 years old! It was nice & relaxing, good view prior to getting dark, and it let me earn the "I'm on a Boat" foursquare badge! lol :p

Gorgeous view of downtown Vancouver earlier this evening...have I mentioned before that this job rocks!?!
Looking forward to another full day of SMART Board pd with teachers in the Vancouver area! I'm loving some of the fresh ideas that came out of today's sessions and can't wait to discuss integrating tech in the classroom with even more people :)
