I'm Baa-aaack! - (09-01-2012)

That's right! Thought you could get rid of me, didn't you? After a six month hiatus from the blogosphere (except for my 365 blog that is really only for friends and family), I'm back at it!  Looking forward to getting back into the swing of things and contributing tips, tricks and hopefully the odd piece of humour with all of my ed tech family!

Where have I been, you ask? Well for the past 6 months I've been completely devoted to this beautiful little man:

And while I'm still going to be at home with him, I'm jumping back into being a contributor for our blog here at Sharp's Audio Visual.  I promise to not bore you too much with pictures of my babe or funny YouTube videos of other people's babes and I certainly will keep my diaper/poop stories to myself.  ;)

Just to prove how serious I am about keeping this promise, I give you my first techie tip of 2012...which is really more of a "have you heard?" but go easy on me -- it's my first one!

For those who haven't yet heard of this fantastic site, I encourage you to check out fur.ly.  Essentially, it allows you to enter multiple urls, that will then be grouped onto one website.

Once you've entered them (such as the 3 elementary math games sites that I used in the example above), it gives you a shortened url that you can then direct your students to.  It will pull up the first website that you entered, and allow them to navigate through the others using the forward and back arrows in the top left hand corner:

Happy 2012 everyone! So excited to be back on here!

Hey Vanessa,

Just wanted you to know that I use your posts all the time. I share them out and see what seeds gain roots. Your boy looks like a handsome handful. Bright eyes - kinda like his Mom. :) Glad you're back. (Sorry for the late response)

A classroom educator for 10 years, I’m now thrilled to be working full time training teachers and helping them integrate technology into their classrooms.

Originally from Calgary, I’m thrilled to be living and working in British Columbia and starting to get to know the fabulous educators in my new province.

I fully confess that I am a tech-geek, and thus always brought technology into the classroom with my students. As soon as I got my hands on my first SMART product – I was a convert – and never taught without one again! I was fortunate to be part of several technical trials with SMART – including the SMART Table, which I enjoyed using primarily with my Grade One students.

I spent some time as an Education Technology Consultant and developed my passion for bringing technology into the hands of kids & helping teachers to maximize the tech tools within their schools.

I also love sports, movies and am a classically trained singer.
