Fresh Look Fridays -- Fuzzy Lion Ears - (27-05-2011)

It's time for the weekly installment of Fresh Look Fridays.  Today's interactive website is an easy-to-navigate, simple yet effect review game designed for K-2, put on by the ever so wonderful folks at PBS Kids.

Fuzzy Lion Ears is designed to have students select the correct letter from a list of options to complete the word.

There are so many cute aspects of this website, but I'll give you my two cents on why it's made my list of recommended interactive sites:

- So. Easy. To. Follow.

- If you press on each letter, it makes the sound of that letter.  Great reinforcement for early literacy

- While there's obviously a correct answer, you can select an incorrect letter and get a cute admonishment "No silly. That's not right."  It doesn't, however, let you advance until you actual come through with the right answer.

- Fun, colourful and totally age appropriate -- could you really ask for anything more?

So simple, yet so fun.  As always, this could easily be utilized as a center activity when put on a SMART Board.  Get your speakers turned up and let 3 or 4 little ones work through each stage!

I hope everyone has a great weekend.  Hopefully this constant downpour in Calgary will stop soon!

A classroom educator for 10 years, I’m now thrilled to be working full time training teachers and helping them integrate technology into their classrooms.

Originally from Calgary, I’m thrilled to be living and working in British Columbia and starting to get to know the fabulous educators in my new province.

I fully confess that I am a tech-geek, and thus always brought technology into the classroom with my students. As soon as I got my hands on my first SMART product – I was a convert – and never taught without one again! I was fortunate to be part of several technical trials with SMART – including the SMART Table, which I enjoyed using primarily with my Grade One students.

I spent some time as an Education Technology Consultant and developed my passion for bringing technology into the hands of kids & helping teachers to maximize the tech tools within their schools.

I also love sports, movies and am a classically trained singer.
